Battlefield 1942;
The first thing I noticed about this game, was the game will mess up the icons setup on your desktop. A real pain to fix after every time you play this game. And I have the 1.1 patch too. The idea behind the game is very good. Recreate the major battles in single player and on-line. You can chose which side you want to fight on, and what weapons you want to use. There are places to get more ammo, and to up your health after you have taken a few rounds. ( I don't mean drinking either ) There are tanks and infantry that will attack you and your sides position. You are to defend the bases at all cost. If you are killed, you will respawn in the game after a set amount of time. Plus you will have to chose where you want to respawn at too. This game is open ended, as to how you want to attack, or defend. In the options, you can set the number of people in the game. Plus, you can adjust the CPU AI usage. You will be hard pressed to get bored with this game, as it will be different everytime you play it. That includes the same maps too.
The sound for this game, was dropping out from time to time. When the sound was working, it was good. They could have done better with this. The different sounds for the weapons and tank leave a lot to be desire. There are several different types of soldiers that you can chose from, Much like RTCW. They each have their own advantage and disadvantages. You will have to see what works for you in what level you are playing in. The maps look nice, and have different hills and valleys, so it is a little hard to see the enemy coming. The graphics are pretty nice, but not the best I have seen. I guess, that is to help keep the game playable on mid range systems.
Graphics: 7.5
Sound: 6.5
Gameplay: 9
