Hey Myst, I knew you would be one of the first to post about the demo. Ten hours is a long time, you need a faster ISP.

well it ended up taking 16hrs casue the server i was d/ling off seemed to have removed the file.grrrrrrr.

anyway the game...


my first thought was hmmmmm this sucks (which usally aint a good first impression)



plays nothing like UT exept for the weapons which a simular.

i love the double jump.

the weapons seem to be too balanced ,lol they are all the same , nothign is worth looking for , i even seem to get as many kills with the assault rifle (default weapon )as most other guns, shock rifle has been turned into a pee shooter ,requires more skill to do a combo which i dont mind but u have to hit the center of the ball which doesnt make sense,goo gun is still the worst weapon though, rocket launcer seems to be the only good thing,minigun is a little so so,lighting gun is my favirite weapon i usally just run around goign for headshots without the scope (like in UT)but the decreased rate of fire makes it very very hard to get out of a "ganged" situation, bots are still a little buggy ,but a big improvement from UT, and they player scale compared to the level and pickups messes with your head (seems they have either increased the pickup size or decreased the player model size)

another thing the Anoouncer could not get an more annoying omg ,

blue flag taken ,blue flag dropped,red flag taken,red flag dropped ,taken droped ,red ,dropped,taken ,flag.....................

he goes on and on and is meant to be like a "sports commentator" hence the name UT2003, which everyone said was really bad (the voice) the reply from one of the Developers was ,we will put an option to turn it off, Cough* demo was there to see if the community liked it? y not change what people dont like ??? well anyway i keep getting my panties in a bunch ove that one.

well the game gets better over time, many call it QUAKE TOURNAMENT 2003

every other person seems to think it rocks.


it is really just that i expected alot form this game with all the hype.

it seems to be one of those like movie trailors where all the good bits are in the tralior which get you to go see the movie ,and it doesnt turn out as good.

although the more i play the more i like.
and not being able to play multiplayer probly ruins the experiance for me.

well anyway i doubt anyone will read this far down lol *my babbling*.


the game is Really worth a look at.it is visully stunning.

but the game really needs alot of work before realse.

there under pressure to get the game realsed so i can be in the 2003 cyber games tourny (lol whatever it is)

i bet you 100-1 they rush it out the way it is just to make the date.....

Gotta agree with you MySt...QUAKE TOURNAMENT 2003 seems about right. I read all your ramblings tho' :D

well i waited so long for this damm game i thought i have to give it a chance , been playing it all arfternoon and i am really starting to enjoy it, and playing my bro on my lan seems to make it alot better(having an human oppenant)
had to make myself play it a couple of times at first , but once you get used to the feel it keeps getting better,
which is not good for a game .becasue the first time u have a game and you dont like it you wont buy it.


also found a bit of a hack to see the new redeemer explosion which looks pretty sweet , i dont thin ktis a finshed version but still looks nice.

do this.

go into the user.ini file in the system folder of ut2003 and assgning this to a letter myn is assigned to p.the letter u assign has nothing to do with it just makes sure its not one alrdy in use.

e.g P=set XWeapons.Rocketlauncher FireModeClass class'XWeapons.RedeemerFire' set XWeapons.RedeemerFire AmmoClass Class'XWeapons.RocketAmmo

now when you go into a level get the rocket luancher and fire a primary rocket which is actully the redeemer missile, and stand back and watch the NUKE

only fires once, u have to die and get the rocket launcher to fire it agian.

oh i forgot to mention that the redeemer thign wont work if you got the demo patch realsed about 15hrs ago.

the game is still missing somthing , could be just the no ambient sounds (i like hearing bullets whizz past my head) ,could be the guns dont feel real ,when you shot a gun in UT you felt its power though the sound and effect ,ut2k3 seems to be differnt.

although the shock combo sound is awesome.

well looks like the develpoers dont want to change much. but lets hope they do.

Feedback was not taken i reckon , just look at the announcer 90% of people hated it.

100-1 it's still there.



well the game is still fun, probly bout half as good as i expected , but it's still good.

my lesson was learnt :). dont follow the hype.

i plan on buying my copy from E.B. that way if it is not very good, I can take it back for a refund.

well yeah the cut off date for the winter CPL (gaming league) was October the 7th, so it fits right in, they said the game will be out by the end of the month.

so expect 1 big patch and maybe more, of the bugs they didnt adress.


i rember that was there excuse for it taking so long ,becasue they didnt want to realse patch after patch.

i carnt see this game being anything as big as UT.although it is still better than most games. But not the next step in FPS, i think a half a step backwards.towards Quack :).
