Error Before Starting Game

I recently installed NBA LIVE 2001 DEMO. Everything went on fine, but when i try to start the game it gives this message

It really is pain to see this message again and again because other game like FIFA 2001 DEMO runs fine. Please help me soon.By the way the games are all from EA SPORTS.

I presume this would be a DX 7 problem. If you search on DX7Z.DLL there are references to EA games, and a place to download and replace that specific file. You could do so, renaming teh original so it doesn't get lost. Or, you could try DX 8 and see if the problem is resolved.

I take it you have Direct X 7 installed, I would update it too, Direct X 8.1. Have heard that DX 9 will be out soon too.

I have direct x 8.1 installed on my win98 system. As i said other game from ea sports was running fine. Please help.

Uninstall the game, reboot, then reinstall it. If that does not fix it, delete the game download, and get it from another site if you can, and install that. let me know if that works.
