The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time. (Error 3197)

Can anyone help.

Hi PVC,

With the little you've given, it sounds like this database is shared. Is it on a network or the local drive? If it's network-based and can be opened by more than just you, maybe someone else is working in it at the same time. Just a thought, unless someone else knows better what you're asking.

This database is on one a local drive not on a network. As far as I know I am the only user because I have never seen this message before.

Dave,

had the same problem - just update to the latest JET version (somewhere in
the microsoft swamp - search for jet update) - solves many (but not all) of
my problems...

I'm working through a problem with an Access 97 database
that displays Error 3197 to some, but not all, of those who
attempt to open the database. Error 3197 states:

"The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process
because you and another user are attempting to change the
same data at the same time."

Another interesting aspect of this is that the message only
displays at 3 of the workstations in the network, regardless
of which user is logged on. For what it's worth, the network
operating system is NT 4.0.

Would appreciate your thoughts.
