View Full Version : No game - just a puzzle

Nice to see a gaming board !
This is not a game - it is a puzzle that
will save you a lot of money on-line gaming, and drive you mad at the same time.
Draw a 7 x 7 matrix. Label the columns
1 to 7, label the rows a to g.
Cell 2b = 26, cell 2d = 35, cell 2f = 37
Cell 4b = 31, cell 4d = 36, cell 4f = 39
Cell 6b = 38, cell 6d = 26, cell 6f = 24
The empty cells can contain the numbers 1
to 7 only. In any row or column none of
the numbers 1 - 7 can appear more than once.
The values of the eight cells around the
cells defined above, must add up to the
value of that cell.
If you solved it with the PC please let me know how you did it !!

I don't follow what you are trying to do?

Well, here's the matrix I hope ..
In the white squares, enter a number from 1 to 7. No two numbers can be the same in any row or column. ie 1,4,4,7,6,5,2 is not allowed as it has 4 twice. The 8 numbers you put in the white squares surrounding a number in a black square add up to that number in the black square.
For example 3,5,2,8,1,3,4 put into the eight blank squares surrounding the 26 add up to 26 - the two 3 digits according to
the first rule cannot be in the same row or column however.

Megan, that's not a liberty, that's a miracle. What do you mean "no HTML in here" - that the gaming board does not
support html ? If so Techguy owes me a dinner ! I would be very interested in how you showed the pic with VB code, and I think other members would be also.
Thanks again and best regards

Ok, I get it, Thanks for the pic Megan. That helped out a lot. The code for making pics appear is IMG /IMG with [ ] surrounding them both.

Remove the "~" I put in to pouch the code in the img tags, and there you go! :D

Here's mine: this is a quattro sheet (http://www.fedalta.ca/hft/matrix.qpw). Mind, creating a sheet doesn't mean I've solved it! :D

Need the URL to see, PM me?

Also I am not hot with PC techno stuff -
what does 'PM me' mean ?

haven't had any luck with it. I've been checking with my friends to see if their kids have done that sort of thing in math, but no luck so far...
