Hi PcKiller,

What's your platform and target? Do you run on Windows98/NT?

Are you wanting to purchase? Or looking for a freebie?

(free is good!)

If you're only developing for Windows and you don't mind paying the money, I recommend MS Visual C++. I use it at work and it's really good (for a MS product. http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif ). In terms of editors, I like CodeWright - it's a nice stand alone editor which a lot of features. It can apparently be used in conjunction with Visual Studio. It can also call external apps for compiling.

If you're just looking to play around with C/C++ then free is the way to go. You might want to consider either, one of the free Borland compilers - don't particularly like Borlan myself - or, look into the GCC (GNU FSF) based compilers like Cygwin or Mingw. You may have to link in their libraries when you build though.

As for a free editor, not too sure what to suggest. Do a quick search on Google and see which one tickles your fancy. There's plenty out there. http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I just did a search and here's a free IDE that looks pretty:

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has recommendations for a good free programmer's editor.

Good luck. http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif
