I don't use ICQ but have read complaints from people about the newest version and the addition of Advertisements to the programme. Came across this and thought it might be of some interest.

Ok well lately you may have noticed that banner AD's (Advertisements) are starting to appear in ICQ. Now I had heard of this happening to people online but didn't really pay much attention till I loaded ICQ today and noticed I had some flashing banner AD's at the bottom of my message boxes. My first thought was man these suck. My second thought was how am I going to get rid of these crap ICQ AD's. ...

the resource hack method is probably the safest, I've seen many people trying to push "their" modified .dll.
Being the skeptic that I am, I try to avoid hacked programs with total access to the net!
