Hello PuterHeads!
My sister recently gave me a 1996 Dell Pentium 133.(256 Cache) I know I Know....I should just buy a new one, because it is soooo slow! The Hard Drive has so much stuff,ie: applications,files/folders,etc.,that she had downloaded,or came with other programs installed when she first got it. I don't know the first thing about F-Formatting the H.D.,I WILL upgrade the present 16 RAM to a max of 64 RAM,and possibly install a faster microprocessor, but I would really like to start over with basic programs. Anyone,I would greatly appreciate any feed back. Thank you, Bozo

http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/hi.gif Welcome to hft, bozo. Here are some avenues for you to try.
From Microsoft, How to Use the Fdisk Tool and the Format Tool to Partition or Repartition a Hard Disk (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q255/8/67.ASP)
Hardware Central All about partitioning (http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/tutorials/42/1) and Build your own pc (http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/tutorials/109/1) The complete list of tutorials is here (http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/tutorials)
More info is need, though, to fully answer your questions. What operating system will you be using? How big is the hard drive? What is the fastest processor your motherboard will support? What sort of programs are you looking for? Games, word processing, spreadsheet, suites...?
I believe these questions are more appropriate to the Hardware forum so I'm moving it there. I'm sure you'll find our members will have lots of ideas/advice.
