Hard Drive

My computer is:
SONY PCV 220
266 mghz Intel Pentium II

Motherboard: Intel Corp. AL440LXAA681536-304
BIOS Intel Corp 4A4LL0X0.86A.0031.P14

I have just upgraded the BIOS to P14. Could you tell me what is the largest size hard drive this BIOS can handle.

Also it is my understanding that with this BIOS I can install a 700 Celeron chip using a slocket. Is this possible and if so what is the fastest chip I can install without changing the motherboard.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

according to them, this board only supports a 433mhz Celeron. see the link for more details.

it does not mention how large of a hard drive this board supports... but it does mention that it will have a problem with ATA66 drives:

The IDE controller integrated into the AL440LX motherboard supports Ultra DMA modes 0,1, and 2. Ultra DMA mode 2, also known as ATA-33 or Ultra DAM 33, is the highest speed transfer mode supported by the AL440LX. The motherboard hardware cannot support the maximum transfer rate of the ATA-66 drives. A drive that complies with the ATA-66 specification will run timings up to Ultra ATA-33 on the Intel AL440LX motherboard. Please refer to the Specifications & Errata page for the documents "Technical Product Specification" and the "Motherboard Specification Update" for more complete details on the various transfer modes.
