Following up on my other question, how do I find out what kind of RAM I have?
Can my computer, or a program tell me?
Is taking the modules to the store helpful? (does it say on the module. I know it is 72 pins)
Thanks

If you don`t have a splash screen covering up your bios screens it will display the type of ram. Compaq,HP and gateway all hide this. I have seen stickers on the ram stick itself saying EDO but not fast page FPM and most of the new ones will id pc100 or 133. What are the specs on your puter? Motherboard listings will tell you the type of ram the board uses. I know it can be a pain id ing the stuff.JT.

Thanks.
I will look in bios. It doesn't say on the chip having just look. But pretty sure it is sdram.
I have a clone pent 166 that came with windows manual and that's all. Thought it was weird at time even if I knew nothing about computers. So I have never know about my motherboard.
Thanks

You must have Win 98, because I only have system monitor which is no help.
I haven't looked in bios yet, but will.
Thanks

It will be shown on the second bootup dos screen, about a quarter of the way down on the right. Sys info in 98 will give the amount of ram but not the type. http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/sandra . If you go to this site and d\l the standard version, it is free. There is an id your moboard module and it states the type of ram it supports.JT.
