View Full Version : 300w Case suggestions for AMD??
Bounced Reality Check
January 24, 2001, 01:09 am
I'm lucky enough to now put together my near-dream system: 850mhz Thunderbird, Abit KT7 mobo, Asus GeF2 GTS 32MB AGP etc...
But actually what i'm stuck on is what CASE to buy!! I've checked out In-Win and Enlight and they have cases for AMD's , but I'm hoping to get reccomendations from "real, happy customers".
I'm hoping for 300W and perhaps 2 fan capability, if necessary.
Thanks!

Thanks! I'd be interested in hearing what you or anyone has to comment on it! I've checked into it some more and am favoring a case from Fong Kai. It's model 603, a midtower, and rated extreemly well at anandtech. Here's the link to a well written review on it: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1138&p=1
Well, I don't really mean to answer my OWN question, but it intrigued me! Thanks ahead of time for your ideas

I think fiberglass, some aluminum siding, and a little duc tape works just fine. Occassionaly, I like to use chicken wire for supporting all the drives then a good 'ol fashioned staple gun to keep the motherboard in place.

To be, or not to be . . .
Wait, what was the question?

Haahaa!! Yup, I like the workmanship there! Another route that seems to run a bit cooler is to build the skeleton from Lego blocks while reinforcing the structure and motherboard mounts with High Quality Chewing Gum Thermal Paste...
Of course the power supply for this is fed by a roof mounted wind/electro generator. Maybe a solar powered UPS? Okay, this is officially out of hand!!
Thanks for the welcome message, afterthought!

Welcome to hft, bounced reality check. Stop by here (http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000077.html) and meet some of the other members. Maybe even tell us a little about yourself. I already know you like lego and chewing gum. What else? *lol*
If you're looking for a cool case, check out Virtual Hideout (http://www.virtualhideout.net/cool_case/page20.shtml). There are some truly awesome ones there.

Well, thanks for all of the "help"... I finally narrowed it down and purchased the Fong Kai 603 - I love it! No mood lighting or Flux Capacitor yet, but i've got time to improve on it, right?
