Hi, due to a strange noise from the HDD my machine is at the "mechanics". I decided to add more RAM (64MB more) at the same time and here is my dilema.
I have a friend that can get me sticks at a very reasonable price but I'm not sure what kind I have installed. I don't want to ask the tecky, but I don't have a problem giving him the sticks to install.
What I know:
I printed a Sandra report and for RAM it reads
SDRAM 8-1-1-1R 4-1-1-1W (4 16MB sticks 0,1,2,3)
Can anybody tell me what kind and how many pins whith this information?
Thank you
pons

SDRAM is usually 168pin DIMM. It would help to know how old your comp is and what kind it is. What would help even more is the ID of your mobo. Sdram is now selling for $60 for 128M.JT.

What`s the problem with asking the tech? That would be the best way to know for sure. If you are spending money there on your HDD I think asking for thier help with upgrading the ram is not unreasonable. Unless they are @sshole$

Hello Jaturp, no, they are not a** h**** as you well put, but if past experience serves, they will up the price...
Living in the bundocks here I'm afraid, and as for the MOBO, acording to Sandra printout is a :
Free Tech
PF593U PCI/AGP green bios
ISA 16 bit
PCI 32 bit
USB, AGP 32 bit
Mem bus speed 75 Mhz
Does it help?
Thank you for your interest

This is what`s listed for your board

Processor: Intel Pentium /Pentium MMX
166-233MHz (66 FSB)
AMD K5/K6/K6-2/K6-III
266-550MHz (66/100 FSB)

Cyrix 6x86/6x86MX/M-II
300-366MHz (66/100 FSB)

IBM 6x86MX PR300,
333MHz (66 FSB)

Main Chipset: ALi 1542 (Aladdin V)
I/O Chipset: ALi 1543
Audio Chipset: Non
Cache: 512K up to 1M L2 Cache
Main Memory : Up to 512MB, 2 SIMM, 2 DIMM
Expansion Slots: 3 PCI, 2 ISA
1 AGP 2x Compatible
( 66MHz or 133MHz )
On Board I/O: 1 Floppy Port
2 Serial Ports (16550 UART)
2 PCI Enhanced IDE Ports
1 Parallel Port (SPP/ECP/EPP)
1 IrDA Infrared Port
2 USB Ports
1 PS/2 Mouse Port
1 P/2 Keyboard Port (Optional)
Form Factor: AT
Board Size: 25cm x 22cm

It says you use 2 simm and 2 dimm 66 or 100MHz bus. So you can use the cheaper sdram PC100 but only in two of the slots. This is how it looks to me.JT.
