Hi,
Someone gave me a 486 computer with a 33MHz cpu in it, but the cpu is smaller than the slot it goes in, that is all the holes in the slot aren't filled with a cpu leg.this doesen't seem right to me,or is it?
I would like to put a 66MHz cpu in it that I have, can I just unplug one and insert the other?
Thangs for the help
Jearl

I went downstairs to try to get the 33MHz out of the socket with a CPU extractor even,I pulled, rocked and changed positions and it just wouldn't come out.I pulled so hard that it seemed the motherboard would break so I finally gave up for yesterday.
Would WD40 help(just kidding).
Another thing that made me give up is the battery is a barrel type soldered in the motherboard and it's got green acid coming from one end and it won't keep time.
It looks like the patient is critically ill.
Do you know about hp printers?
The yellow light flashes when I try to print,
with no printing taking place.
The communications test says there's two way communication.
Thank's for the help I certainly appreciate it.
Regards
Jearl

I would give up (since its not that great) and about the printer - Sounds like some connections / settings are wrong...

Hi,
Sorry I didn't get back with you,I got frustrated and had to get away from computers for a while, but It's like my golfing I seem to always get back to it.
The advice I got was sound and good and I finally did get the CPU out of the slot, but the 66MHZ didn't work so I file 13 it.
I hope when I have another problem you'll be as helpful in the future.
Sorry again about not getting back to you.
Jearl
