Tape Drive

I have a Tape Drive (DDS-3, Seagate, STD224000N) that I need the firmware update for. I cannot locate it on Seagate's web site. I can only find a diagnostic utility when I follow the links to firmware. The utility does not seem to contain any info for the firmware.

The reason why I need this is because I have a tape drive that is not working. I checked the drivers, I performed the diagnostics, and I checked the scsi adapter. Still no success. The firmware is the last step before I decide to give up and get a new one.

Any help is apreciated.

Not as far as I can tell. All I could see was how to ID your current version. I read something about a fix for an Iomega Zip Disk click of death. Are these two devices alike?.JT.

Jaturp, I don't think they are similar.

The data cartridge or cassette tape that goes into the drive can hold 12G uncompressed, 24G compressed, of information (DDS-3). The tape is similar to a VCR tape (but smaller) or cassette tape that you would use to record or play music (that thing we used before CDs). It's normally used for backing up networks. It is very slow, typically. A normal backup can take 5-12 hours, depending on how your backup is configured.

Iomega does have something similar (but slightly different by it's capacity of storage). It is not a zip disk though. (http://www.iomegadirect.com/product/family.asp?Family=Ditto)

Now that I've babbled everywhere . . . I still need help. Jaturp, or anyone else, if you can think of anything, please post it. This drive is about to be kicked.
