Over the last three days, my computer has crashed four or five times with a BSOD and an error message that says my Windows configuration is invalid and that I should run Windows setup again.
I did that yesterday (and spent half an hour picking unwanted changes out of my system/replacing Direct X 5 with Direct X 6.1/reinstalling Flash 5 - you know the sort of stuff http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/frown.gif )
So I wasn't pleased when I exactly the same thing happened to me this morning http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/frown.gif http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/frown.gif
Error message as follows:-
Invalid VxD dynamic link call from VWIN32(05) + 0000119E to device "002", service 1.
Your Windows configuration is invalid. Run the Windows setup program again to correct this problem.
I'm running an Athlon 600 on an Asus K7M mobo with 128Mb memory, Seagate Barracuda 20.4Gb HDD, and Windows 98 original release.
As this ALWAYS happens when I am online, I suspect that it may be something to do with my modem... ?
I've got a v90 (generic) Ask modem, internal, ISA card (compatible with Linux so I think it must be a hardware modem rather than a Winmodem)
Do you think Win 98 could have installed a generic driver over my modem driver and messed up the settings that way? If so, should I reinstall my modem software (I think it's Cheyenne Bitware) and see if that helps?
