I'm a novice at Word but I'm working on a 67 page document that someone else started. They have the page numbers all screwed up. Some numbers are duplictaed and some are skipped. I think it's in para legal format or something. The first three pages are coversheets so I need to number them from 1-67 starting with the third page. Is there a simple way to get rid of there number formatting and re-number it?

Sorry for the delay... are the numbers in the footer or somewhere else?

I think they are part of a footer. It's actually my wife's project, I just told her I'd see if I could find an answer.

My first thought is, get wordperfect. I'm a huge fan of that programme. Two words, 'reveal codes'. Allows for a neat, clean document. imho, word is awful for (no)'help' files and adding un-needed codes!
OK, now to your problem. Found this in the ms knowledge base. Hope it helps.

No problem. http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif Have to admit, I'm exhausted. How you guys/gal (musn't forget newgrl!) keep up with the questions blows my mind (well, except for Vernon! *lol*). I've been all over the board today offering my 2 cents. Now I need to go to the bank! http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gif
Oh, thanks to all members who take the time to offer suggestions/advice. That is truly my favourite thing about the interet - wealth of joke material is pretty good, too!!!

hehe, that's exactly my wife's thoughts tweakthis. WP has always been her choice of programs (we have WP8) and she knows it quite well, but the gal who made this file to begin with (and everyone else in her office)is a big MS Word fan and now she is no longer around. My wife just doesn't want to have to re-do it from scratch. It's the company safety manual.
Thanks for the link. We'll work on it tomorrow.
