Ok, this is the situation. I reinstalled windows 98 onto a emachine using the restore disk. I did a reinstall without formatting the hard drive so that I wouldn't lose the info. Now, I need to reinstall Office but we only have Office 97 & Office 2k upgrade. So I try to reinstall Office 97, and I keep getting an error and it says:

Error while configuring ODBC drivers.

The configuration of the ODBC Microsoft dbase Driver (*.dbf) driver failed.

Does anyone what this means and how to fix it?

Hey guys, forget it http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif I was finally able to install Office 97. This is how I was able to do it.

First, I tried Installin Office without the microsoft foxpro database driver, but that didn't work.

Second, I tried renaming the ODBC files, but that didn't work either.

Finally, I tried installing office without the data access components, and that did it. http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/grin.gif

I didn't try the office remover cuz I wasn't able to download it for some reason. oh well

Here's the link if anyone needs it: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q197/3/65.ASP?
