I bought this game when it first came out. There is a lot of stuff to complain about.
1. You can not use a steering wheel
2. You cannot use a good joystick ( standard You can )
3. It is very hard to steer the car at speed thru tight streets using the keyboard.
This game is going back to E.B. and putting a deposit on UT 2003

well pckiller i'll have to disagree wif ya on this one.
i really never played any of the old gta's played for about 5 mins then realized it was boring.
got this new one...thinking the same will happen ,but i was really surprised how much running around on the street stealing cars and blowing stuff up can be.
tha radio station selection was good.
(i thought the car driving in his would turn out crap ,but it was actully a little realistic)driving can be hard to begin with, but once u get good it's fine(and if u crash ,it's always fun running and diving away from the explosion.and also you can just steal another car.
well i think the reason i like this game is becasue i really didnt know what to expect.and it turned out good.
even with a fast sytem the game can lag at certain points.from the game acessing the cd and hardrive reguarly.
the city is pretty realistic for a game.(ambulances arive when someone is injured, and they revive victms).and many other things that you will notice if you play it.
i'd put it as cross between Driver(off playstation) and max payne.
not a serouis game ,just gives you a litle world where you can do whatever the hell you want ..but also face the consiquinces.
obvously not intended for driving simulation fans as jeff pointed out.

Myst,
the game play was fun, it is just that I did like the fact that I could not use my steering wheel and pedals setup. Some of the jobs you have to do, require you to drive at very high speeds. Kind of hard to do with the keyboard controlling it. The graphics looked nice, and I never have any lagging no matter were, or what I was doing. And I was running it at 1600 by 1200 rez.

yeah i knew what ya meant :). but i have never used a stering wheel or joystick when it comes to driving and flying games.
oh and the use of the handbreak in the game really improves cornering @ high speeds.
also i have to ask you if you've evere played Halo on X-Box ,lol toook me at least an hour to get used to driving the warthog.but once u get used to it ,it really isnt that hard.(but was much much much harder that GTA3's
and also then i must really need a defrag.
don't take this the worng way jeff :), the bad points you made about the game were spot on,but i didnt get to test that side of the game seeing i dont own a steering wheel and hate my joystick.lol(5$ peice bought @ K-mart or sumpin.)
so thats howi came up wif my conclusion.
(well the game is currrently been knocked of my play list as i got warcraft III the other day and i must say that i like very much.

Myst,
I didn't take it the wrong way. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have both a joystick and a steering wheel with pedals that are force feedback. I really like to use them in my games. Love the way Nascar 2002 feels at 185 mph at tally. The steering wheel makes you feel every bimp in the road, and every tap you get from the AI cars as well.

hmmm.
Bump a 5 year old thread about GTA:3 with a comment that is actually irrelevant to the game?
Hot Coffee was the R-Rated "mod"/unlock for GTA:SA.
As far as I'm concerned, any game that was already R rated for violence and gang/drug themes should have been allowed to have the sex scenes. Good thing I'm not chief censor then eh?

Hi Max.
Back on-topic to the original discussion of GTA3 - the control mechanism was designed for a console (Playstation) so that's why it didn't support wheels etc.
Driving missions were best played with a gamepad - preferably with an analogue stick. Keyboard was second best option.
Can't remember if GTA:3 supported it, but in Vice City & San Andreas, I actually developed the ability to "mouse steer".
