I can't figure out what video card I have nor do I have the option for 256 colors in the settings.
I can only choose 2 or 16 colors.

this is courtesy of VernonFreeze(the God of DOS)... another moderator on this board.

i'm going to try to post his picture in here... but if it doesn't work, i will just edit and link you to the question that was asked on another board.

>My question is WHAT/WHERE/HOW CAN I IDENTIFY MY VIDEO CARD?

1. Click Start|Run, type command and press [Enter].

2. At the DOS prompt, type:

DEBUG

and press Enter.

3. You should now see a single dash. This is the DEBUG prompt. At this prompt type:

d c000:0

and press Enter. (Those are all zero's, not oh's).

Note: You may need to type a single d character (and press [Enter]) at the second dash prompt to see all of the information.

4. Ignoring all the gibberish, jot down the legible English over on the right and post it here. For example, this is what appears on this notebook computer:

http://www.gate.net/~pweins/nowonder/images/debugvid.gif

To exit DEBUG, type:

q

and press [Enter].

To exit DOS and return to Windows, type:

exit

That should let you know what kind of video card you're using. Let me know if it worked!http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/grin.gif
