A friend of mine needs to know what application the .mdf file extension is used for. The most I've been able to find is that it stands for Menu Definition File (or something like that). Any Ideas?
>can you tell me what .mdf extension program is associated with? Have any of
you ever heard of this before?

Medium density fibreboard - oops, sorry, that only applies to decorating/home improvement shows! http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gif http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gif
Sorry, checked my favourite link but no good search result. Closest I could come up with was .mbf and .mgf. Here's the link for the search results from Wotsit's Format (http://www.wotsit.org/search.asp?page=27&s=ALLFILES).

It is a Primay Data File created by SQL 7.
More info from the MS KB:
Every database has at least two files, a primary file and a transaction log file.
Although os_file_name can be any valid operating-system file name, the name more clearly reflects the purpose of the file if you use the following recommended extensions.
File type Recommended file name extension
Primary data file .mdf
Secondary data file .ndf
Transaction log file .ldf

in databases I would agree with out friend tali..but it could just be an image file, if the download was an image copy of a dvd/cd. use magiciso to read the file..use a cd/dvd emulator to mount it and run it from the harddrive..(cd/dvd emulator, daemon347.exe) and I would get a copy of the anydvd software if it is region encrypted..

It's actually an Alcohol 120% image file. I just had to look this up myself today.
