htpasswd

No matter how many times I try to create a htpasswd file, IT NEVER WORKS!!! I have tried every tutorial I can find, same effect! IT NEVER WORKS!!! I don't mean to sound rude but this is quite aggervating. What am I doing wrong?

aside from the fact that it may not be supported on your server, are you using an .htaccess file? .htpasswd is just a password list while .htaccess actually defines access and user/group files

I think this belongs to webmastering more than to security though. Moving it there.
