you can go to http://www.doubleclick.net and do an opt out. They will no longer track your internet browsing.just click on opt out.this link will take you to a entrance page.do the drop down for your country and it will take you to that page and on the right side of the web page under highlights it says opt out.it's painless:lol

the problem with that is...
the next time you clear your cookie files, your deleting the cookie that double-click stored to say "I've opted-out"

I used a registry edit from grc.com called "Nasties.reg"

By installing this file, many of the major advertising companies are quickly added to your IE "restricted zone", so cookies from these companies cannot be accepted, but other cookies are ok.

Ok I'll check that out.But you didn't answer my question or does that program you use mean you wouldn't be able to know unless you disabled it?

Sorry I didn't answer fully.
No, I haven't tried the DoubleClick opt-out.
My understanding is that they actually place a new cookie on your system that tells them that they shouldn't add any more cookies.
So if you go on a cookie deletion binge, you'll actually erase their opt-out cookie. (meaning next time you stumble across a double-click ad, it'll start tracking you again with a fresh cookie)

let us know if AdAware finds another new cookie from them!

http://grc.com/cb-faq.htm#privacy

that's the link to the FAQ for the nasties.reg file I mentioned earlier. If you have some free time, read the entire page, it's an excellent source of info. http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I checked it out and it's got some good suggestions about the cookies.I didn't download that program though.I just put those sites in my resticted sites and using Norton Personal Firewall I can block any cookie, active x,java,ect...

I have Cookies Manager installed (from here http://computers.rochester.rr.com/nonags/index.html and it lets me keep the cookies I want and deletes all the others.
The page is long and you have to scroll down to reach Cookies Manager.
This way the OPT-OUT from double-click will remain on your hard drive.

I found a better way to get rid of double click.Put their url's in your restricted sites and If you have Norton Personal Firewall you can block them that way too.
