The new Zone Alarm doesen't have the same amount of popup alerts as the earlier version.Has anyone heard anything bad about the new version or have any links to posts about it?I had recently reformatted my puter and went back to the older version.Just curious.

Are you referring to the Pro version or just the newest version of the freebie?
No, I haven't heard of any problems regarding ZA.

The new ZA is not SUPPOSED to be giving you as many alerts (it's one of the improvements - not as many false alarms from innocuous hits). Pete

So what are you trying to say?:lol That the alerts the old version said it was blocking from advertising companies are inocuous?http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gifOr that the new version allows the add co's. to do their peeping and we don't know about it?Or they are being blocked and there is no need to alert you to the fact that there are still attempts to acces information from your computer?http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gifI can't help it I'm suspicious.http://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I'm not running the new one right now.I have it on a cd and might install it latter after I find out for sure about it. I saw a post about it on http://www.net4nowt.com/forum/index.htm in the non ISP related column. Someone said to check out the info at grc.com but I haven't found it yet. There is alot of info there and it seems to me to be unorganized. His format could be better I think. It's almost like a sloppy desk with alot of nice things on it.:lol I will keep lookinghttp://www.helpfromtechs.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Ok, so far what I have found at http://www.grc.com the guy there only recomends the previos version of zone alarm.V2.1.I didn't see anywhere that he bad mouthed the new one either.I don't know if you guys have checked out his site or not but it has alot of interesting stuff about spyware. He did recomend using another browser called Opera which he says is faster and smaller in size.

So far it appears to be very much like Netscape but not as pretty but very functional. So far I like it.It's as fast or faster than IE5.5 and Netscape 4.72.Haven't tried Netscape 6 yet.

I'm going to start a new post about Opera in the application area because that's where this belongs.
